End of School Program

It's hard to believe that I'm all done with school for the year.  In Bolivia we have our summer break from the end of November until February!  So now I get to be home ALL DAY with my Mom for a while.  But before my school was completely done, we had a big end of the year program that took place in a big theater in town.  The theater was real fancy, but old.  There were 7 different acts, all of which were different Disney stories.  I was in a Disney story that I wasn't familiar with, and neither were my parents.  (Maybe since it was all in Spanish?)  Anyway, it had solders and ballerinas in it, and I was a ballerina!  We practiced for several weeks before the big show.  On the day of the show I, along with all the other girls in the show, got to go to a beauty parlor and have our hair and make-up done.  It was SO fun.  My mom said I looked like something out of Moulin Rouge, but all the Bolivians thought we were beautiful!

Here are some pictures and videos from the event!

At first, getting my make-up felt weird.  I wasn't sure what to think!

Getting on my eye shadow kinda tickled!

Wow!  Mom said I already have on more make-up than I will ever need to wear again.

Time for hair!

There was a lot of hair teasing going on.

The tierra was the final touch.  (And my favorite part!)

Here I am in full costume, right before the show.

My favorite ballerina pose.

As you can see, the choreography wasn't too complicated for me to learn.

I tried to do a little improv dancing, but was quickly reprimanded by one of the other ballerinas!

Just after the show.  I couldn't stop "posing."

This is me with my teacher's assistant on the last day of school.

This is me with my teacher.  She is SO nice.

Catch up!

Wow!  It's been a busy summer.  So busy that I haven't had time to update my blog!  So, I'm putting together a bunch of pictures to show you what I've been up to.

Climbing Mountains with my Daddy

Hanging out with my friends

Working on developing my sense of fashion

Working hard....planting trees

Building a Sand Castle...actually I didn't help at all.  I just know when to pose for the camera!

I still get into trouble from time to time

But I'm really just expressing my creativity

Last week for school I had a winter fashion show! (Here in Bolivia it's winter right now, even though it's summer in the US!) It was really fun. We didn't have school in the morning, because there was so much for my teachers to do to get ready for the show. We rented out a ball room in Sucre and my teachers made a runway with tables. There was music and a lazar light machine too! All the parents came and sat around the run way. It was a little overwhelming for me but I did a good job. I just walked really fast!

Like many things in Bolivia it started a hour late...and then ended up going extra long. My parents left with me at 8:30 but we heard there were still people there until 10pm. Because it went to late, I didn't have school the next day either! The things we do for fashion!

Check out my runway debut!

I'm three!

Guess what? I'm three now! I had my birthday on the 15th, and my parents had a big party for me. It was so fun. I had 9 others kids and their parents come to my party. We took lots of pictures. I'll show you everything we did!

The party was on the terrace of our apartment building! We had some friends help set up all the chairs and balloons!

We also had a Jumping Castle at my party. (That was my favorite part!)

I decided that I wanted a Barney Party. So my friend Claire made a special Barney birthday cake just for me! Isn't it awesome!

After everyone sang Happy Birthday in English and in Spanish, I got to blow out my candle.

Yum...the cake tasted as good as it looked!

We also had some jello for snacks...I thought my mom was going to make finger jello...but we ended up eating it out of a cup with spoons for some reason.

Another snack we had at my party were saltenas. Saltenas are pastries filled with a meat mixture. They are a special mid-morning snack here in Bolivia.

Of course we did lots of jumping...

And pulling...

and tackling...

And riding... (we got our money's worth out of the jumping castle!)

There were games for the grown ups too. We showed our Bolivian friends how to bowl!

We made the bowling pins out of big yogurt bottles. (Boy am I sick of eating yogurt!)

It was hard to get a picture of everyone...this was the best shot. (But it's missing my friend Noelia!)

I handed out special Barney boxes with gifts for all my friends that came to the party.

Then it was time for the pinata! You can't have a birthday party in Bolivia without a pinata. But they do it a little different here than in the US...check it out!

New Hobby!

The other day, during my nap, I discovered a new talent. I'm a great photographer. I've posted photos from my very first photo-shoot. Now, keep in mind that this is the very first time I've ever taken pictures. The first few are a little shaky, but I think I improved by leaps and bounds in just my first session. I've obviously got raw talent. My parents were sure surprised when they found the pictures on their camera two days later! I totally got away with stealing their camera for the afternoon. But learned that taking pictures of myself was a bit self-incriminating.
